At present, my country's water-based fire retardant coatings are mainly decorative fire retardant coatings and high build fire retardant coatings. Water-based fire retardant coatings can be divided into several categories from the film-forming properties: synthetic polymer emulsion type, water-soluble resin type, and inorganic binder type.

1. Synthetic polymer emulsion type

Film-forming materials are styrene-acrylic emulsion, pure acrylic emulsion, vinyl acetate emulsion, etc., and are made of intumescent flame retardant and other materials

2. Water-soluble resin type

Urea-formaldehyde-melamine resin in water-soluble resin has the advantages of light color, good light resistance, no mildew, fast drying, low cost, good adhesion, water resistance, oil resistance, heat resistance, excellent Therefore, it is favored by many manufacturers and has attracted the attention of researchers. Our country has achieved a lot in this regard.

3. Inorganic binder type

This type of coating is based on Portland cement, magnesium hydroxide or other inorganic high temperature binders, and adds aggregates such as expanded perlite, mineral wool and other chemical additives. It is mainly composed of non-intumescent type, and its disadvantage is that the dosage is large and the coating is thick, but because it can be used outdoors, it has also achieved good application results.

Among these types of water-based fire-retardant coatings, inorganic binder-based fire-retardant coatings are environmentally friendly, but there are still some technical difficulties in the physical and chemical properties of the coating. of insufficiency. Although water-soluble amino resins and urea-formaldehyde resins have very good comprehensive fire protection effects, they are not favored by the market because of their high formaldehyde content and lack of sufficient environmental protection performance.
